Blackwater Viaduct, Fermoy Bypass, Ireland
Design of a 450m long viaduct, under a PPP contract. Two parallel externally prestressed concrete box girder decks with spans ranging from 51m to 58m launched over intermediate temporary steel towers and prestressed from end to end after launching, using an innovative prestress system and 450m long cables.
Broadmeadow Estuary Bridge, Dublin, Ireland
Alternative design of a 315m long, twin deck bridge with spans ranging from 52m to 69m constructed using an innovative incremental launching method employing intermediate temporary towers and externally prestressed from end to end after launching. The number of prestress cables was reduced from 660 to 24 (photo to the right).
