NEOM Spine, Saudi Arabia

Engineering Director for the design of the Spine Infrastructure of the new 160km long ultra-modern, highly sustainable, city development for 9 million people.  The infrastructure incorporates high speed rail, freight, intercity rail and utilities transmission throughout the length (with possible provision for Hyperloop), all buried in bored and cut-and-cover tunnels. Developed precast concrete arch solution which saved ~£800m.

HS2, UK

AECOM Programme Director for HS2 (2015-2020) – with up to 15 contracts running concurrently including:

• London Metropolitan area hybrid Bill design and subsequent RIBA Stage 2 - Old Oak Common Station
• Tender design for the Fusion JV (Morgan Sindall / BAM Nuttall / Ferrovial) of 4 major contracts on Phase 1 
• Phase 1 Enabling Works, North, Central & South
• Phase 2b Lot 2 – hybrid Bill design
• Scheme Design study of Contracts C2 & C3 as part of the contractor’s corporate governance processes 
• Expert advice, in an individual capacity, to HS2

Taiwan High Speed Rail Link – Contract C250

Benaim director for the design of a section of the viaducts for the Taiwan High Speed Railway, for trains travelling up to 350km/h. The precast concrete beam viaduct is 3.5km long with an area of 50,000m2. It interfaces with a station and includes connecting links to the maintenance depot. Design further complicated by the need to accommodate high earthquake forces, and construction in a built-up area.
